About Brahmagiri Estate

The Brahmagiri Estate has a long history of being owned by two Scottish nationals, Mr. George Logan Duncan and Mr. Ernest William Duncan, before being bought over by Mr. Botha Van Ingen, and Mr. G. A Tippets Aylmer in 1915. It was acquired by Kelachandra Coffee in 2019 from Mr. Michael Van Ingen, a second-generation owner of the plantation.

The Brahmagiri Hills have great significance in Indian mythology, and are considered to be the birthplace of the river Kaveri (Cauvery). Estates in this cluster have gradual, undulating slopes, mild climates, and fertile soil, all of which support the growth of high-quality Robusta coffee, and pepper. Naturally-formed swamps and water springs are characteristic features here and support the growth of several native birds, land animals, and swamp turtles.
